Here at Harbin Chevrolet we've heard quite bit about recalls over the years. Although recalls are harmless and more common than most people realize, the word is still a little confusing and frightening to most vehicle owners. Fear not. Here's a basic rundown about how to find info on recalls and what they are.

How to Find Info on Recalls

Is there a recall on your vehicle? It's easy to find out. Your vehicle's manufacturer alerts you automatically by mail when you maintain up-to-date vehicle registration. You can also sign up to receive recall info by email from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. There's also a nifty app for Android and iOS called Safercar as well as a website of the same name. The website and app furnish you with any recall info after you input your VIN.

When are Recalls Issued?

Your vehicle manufacturer or the NHTSA may issue recalls on your whole vehicle, motor vehicle equipment, car seat or tire. The recalls come out if one of the aforementioned components does not meet minimum safety standards or present a safety risk to you and other motorists.
