What Silverado 3500 HD configurations are available as a dually?

To get a Silverado 3500 HD with dual rear wheels, you will have to get a long bed as it is not available with a short bed. Luckily, the long bed is available with all three cab options. Dual rear wheels are also available on all trim levels including the WT, LT, LTZ, and High Country, and with either a two-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive configuration. Your engine availability will vary depending on your configuration.

Are you on the fence about getting a dually at all? Understanding the benefits can be difficult. You’re going to have a wide truck, which will make getting around town harder, but that wider body gives the rear-end a bigger footprint and a wider contact patch which does afford some benefits even in towing.

Before you go about trying to get a dually to gain towing capability, know that with conventional towing, the 3500 HD tops out at 20,000 pounds, and it does so with single rear wheels. There you won’t see an improvement when upgrading to a dually. However, with gooseneck towing your max capacity when properly equipped grows from 21,500 pounds to 31,400 pounds.

What is the Max Towing Capacity of the 2022 Silverado 1500?

Do you get more payload capacity with dual rear wheels?

The extra gooseneck towing capacity may not matter to some, but payload capacity will increase as well and this time there are no caveats. The max payload capacity for the 2022 Silverado 3500 HD with traditional single rear wheels is 4,333 pounds when properly equipped. With dual rear wheels, that capacity grows to 6,894 pounds when properly equipped.
